Subsidized Compass Cards vs. refit SkyTrain TVMs

I did some number crunching today and decided to create an…

Cost of compass cards

Okay, I guess this isn’t really an accurate measurement, since some of those 6,000 daily riders might actually be thousands of different occasional riders.

But, come on. Even if TransLink had to subsidize 100,000 Compass Cards (at $6 each), it would still cost way less than $9 or $25 million.

And, even then, I don’t think they need to. Since the use of the Compass Card entitles riders to a fare discount if there is money stored on the card, the investment in a Compass Card eventually pays for itself.

Now that that’s a wrap, time to email some politicians…. (types: Dear Delta Mayor Lois Jackson….)
